€750,000 Filly Continues Terrific Arqana Sale For Wootton Bassett

Strong demand for the progeny of Wootton Bassett continued into Day 2 of the Arqana August Yearling Sale, where Richard Knight went to €750,000 for a daughter of the sire sensation.

Lady O’Reilly’s Haras de la Louviere consigned the bay, having bred her with Ecurie de Meautry out of the young black-type mare Ambivalence, who hails from the top-class family of Urban Sea and Galileo.

“She'll stay here in France and she was bought for a client of mine,” Richard Knight later revealed. “We picked her out and we thought she was an absolute queen. For me physically she was the best filly in the sale so we're absolutely delighted to get her.”

“I love the stallion, Wootton Bassett,” he continued. “She was the one we really wanted to get. I'm not surprised at all that she made that.”

Camille and Guillaume Vitse of Normandie Breeding were another consignor to reap the rewards of Wootton Bassett’s final French crop, by selling their colt out of Strawberry Lace for €340,000. Mandore Agency purchased the April-born bay on behalf of Al Shaqab and MV Magnier.

Wootton Bassett was responsible for nine six-figure lots on Sunday and 18 across the two days.
