Aloof on the up for Galileo

Aloof (3f Galileo-Airwave, by Air Express) became Galileo’s latest black-type scorer at Gowran on Sunday when winning the G3 Denny Cordell Lavarack & Lanwades Studs Fillies’ Stakes. The David Wachman-trained daughter of brilliant sprinter Airwave had finished third to Famous Name in the G3 Solonaway Stakes on her previous start at the Curragh and jockey Billy Lee believes there could be better to come. “Aloof is a very good filly, her last couple of runs were very solid and the good ground suited her well. She´s progressive and there should be a fair bit more to come,” Lee told racingpost.com after this half-length success over Beatrice Aureore (4f Danehill Dancer-Mondschein, by Rainbow Quest). The unstoppable Galileo was also on the mark at Ayr on Saturday when Jeff Smith’s home-bred Opera Gal (5m Galileo-Opera Glass, by Barathea) ran out an 11-length winner of the Listed Doonside Cup.
