Thrice (Wootton Bassett) Draws Clear At Listowel

Another Day, Another Smart Winner By Wootton Bassett

Thrice (2c Wootton Bassett – Mississippilanding, by Galileo) justified some notable entries when drawing clear in Tuesday’s seven furlong maiden at Listowel.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained colt shaped with promise a month ago, when finishing a close third to stablemate Office at the Curragh, and was sent off a short-priced favourite on his second start. Racing prominently under Ryan Moore, he was asked to quicken two furlongs from home and led a furlong later. Ridden clear, he ran on to score by four lengths, while Hostility (No Nay Never) finished seven lengths clear of the remainder.

A step up in class may now be on the cards for Thrice, who holds entries in the Dewhurst Stakes and Futurity Trophy. The Coolmore homebred provides an important update for his Camelot half-brother catalogued in the Goffs Orby Sale.
