Comanche Brave (Wootton Bassett) Wins At Cork

Another Exciting Prospect Emerges For Wootton Bassett

Comanche Brave (2c Wootton Bassett – Ishvana, by Holy Roman Emperor) shaped like a smart prospect when drawing clear in the Coolmore Stud Gleneagles Irish EBF Maiden at Cork.

The Donnacha O’Brien-trained colt finished fourth to subsequent Group 3 winner Ides Of March (Wootton Bassett) on debut, with the third horse having also earned black-type since. Comanche Brave was sent off favourite to win his second start and travelled strongly throughout the six furlong contest under Gavin Ryan. Easing into the lead with over two furlongs left to race, he raced clear a furlong later and went on to score by four and a half lengths.

The winning rider later commented, “He jumped smart, travelled through the first half of the race well and when I asked him to quicken up, he did so really easily. He is very straightforward, he goes on any ground and has a lovely, lovely attitude.”

Owned by Mrs John Magnier and Mrs Anne Marie O’Brien, the son of Wootton Bassett was bred by Whisperview Trading out of homebred Group 3 winner Ishvana (Holy Roman Emperor).
