Parting Glass (Starspangledbanner) Wins His Maiden At Navan

Another Smart Maiden Winner By Starspangledbanner

Parting Glass (3c Starspangledbanner - Keep Dancing, by Distant Music) built on last month’s fine second to justify favouritism in Saturday’s five furlong maiden at Navan.

Runner-up on his sole juvenile start, the Fozzy Stack-trained colt finished in the same position on his seasonal return and raced prominently once again at Navan. Pushed along approaching the final furlong, he was ridden to lead in the final 110 yards and ran on well to score by a length and a half under Mark Enright.

Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “In Tipperary the last day, we were drawn on the wrong side completely and I think he ran a massive race to finish second. He had a blow again today, so I'd imagine there is a lot more improvement to come.”

Parting Glass was bought by his trainer with Avenue Bloodstock as a yearling for 110,000gns. The son of Starspangledbanner was bred by Willmo Bloodstock out of Keep Dancing, whose Starspangledbanner colt sold for 220,000gns last October.
