Another Stakes Winner For In-Form Ten Sovereigns
Ten Sovereigns’ exciting start at stud continued on Saturday when Inquisitively (2c Ten Sovereigns - Ballyalla, by Mind Games) became his second Stakes winner in the Listed Julia Graves Roses Stakes at York.
A close second on debut, the bay produced an impressive performance on his second start to finish third in the Windsor Castle Stakes for Ollie Sangster before being purchased privately by Wee Sean Gan. Now trained by Kevin Philippart de Foy, he was partnered by William Buick on Saturday and raced prominently throughout the minimum trip. Pushed along to lead approaching the final furlong, he was ridden clear and led by two lengths on the line.
“I am delighted with him,” the winning trainer said. “He has got loads of speed and is a talented horse. His owners are based in Hong Kong so it is likely he will go there for his three-year-old career, but before then he could go to Doncaster, France and maybe even America.”
Bred by Glebe Farm Stud, Inquisitively becomes his sire’s fourth winner in the space of seven days, which also includes Listed Curragh Stakes winner Asean (Ten Sovereigns). At the Curragh that same day, Mansa Musa (Ten Sovereigns) finished a close second in the Group 3 Round Tower Stakes.
Ten Sovereigns’ first crop is led by six Group/Stakes performers, two of them Listed winners.
