Another US Success for Samitar

Winner of the Grade I Belmont Garden City Stakes and Irish Thousand Guineas last year, quality mare Samitar (4m Rock of Gibraltar x Aileen’s Gift, by Rainbow Quest) returned to her best form to win the Fairy Garden Stakes at Belmont. Prepared by Chad Brown, Samitar tracked the leaders and then surged home to win the 1 and 1/16th mile contest going away by a length and a quarter. Samitar has won five races and placed seven times from 17 starts earning a tick over $US1million in prizemoney. Samitar is a half-sister to Grade III winner Nijoom Dubai and is from the Rainbow Quest mare Aileen’s Gift, a half-sister to the dam of Group II winner Shaweel.
