Arizona Yearlings Bring Scat Daddy Appeal To Book 2

The yearling sales brigade move on to the Tattersalls Book 2 Sale on Monday, where No Nay Never’s Group 2 Coventry Stakes winner Arizona has three yearlings catalogued.

Kildaragh Stud aim to continue their fantastic run with Lot 749, a well-bred filly from the first crop of Arizona. She benefits from a timely update, as her sister Night Blue (Sioux Nation) finished a game third at Del Mar on her first start for Philip d’Amato last month.

Arizona’s next offering is Lot 910 from Oaks Farm Stables, a colt who sold for 45,000gns as a foal. The February-born bay is a half-brother to two horses rated over 90, while his dam is a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Bushranger.

Trickledown Stud’s Arizona colt (Lot 1057) offers another example of the quality mares sent to the talented sprinter in his first season at stud. The handsome colt is out of a black-type sister to Group 1 performer Top Lock and hails from the family of Border Arrow.

At earlier sales, Arizona’s first yearlings sold to the likes of MV Magnier, Blandford, Nick Bradley, Rabbah, Eddie Linehan, Ollie Sangster, Johnny Murtagh and Ger Lyons.

Arizona himself sold for €260,000 as a yearling and after winning a strong renewal of the Coventry Stakes, placed in the Group 1 National Stakes and Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes. The performances earned him a Timeform rating of 119, only bettered by Pinatubo and Kameko.

Arizona’s top-class sire No Nay Never is already proven as a sire of sires, with Ten Sovereigns responsible for three Stakes winners and another three Group performers in his freshman season. The Scat Daddy line continues to produce top-class sires, with Justify siring two Grade 1 winners from his first crop, while second crop sire Sioux Nation boasts eight Group winners to date.

Arizona also appeals on pedigree as a full-brother to Grade 2 winner Nay Lady Nay, out of a half-sister to the dam of European Champion Juvenile Dabirsim. His grandam is Group 1 winner Bright Generation and hails from the family of superstar mare Sea Of Class.
