Arizona Yearlings Bring Scat Daddy Appeal To Goffs UK

Following four Group winners from the Scat Daddy sire line last week, its latest successor Arizona makes his yearling sales debut at the Goffs UK Premier Sale.

A Group 2 winning Royal Ascot two-year-old, just like his sire No Nay Never, his progeny are sure to appeal to buyers at a sale renowned for producing speedy juveniles. The Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes runner-up is represented by four yearlings across the two days, beginning with Meadowlands Stud’s granddaughter of Group 2 heroine Oumaldaaya (Lot 71) on Tuesday.

A trio of Arizona colts are set to grace the ring the following day, beginning with Drummona House Stud’s colt out of What Endures (Lot 258). The February-born bay proved one of the highlights on the final day of the Goffs November Foal Sale, after which buyer Ausra Mackeviciute described Arizona’s first crop as “very athletic, good looking and look like they are going to be good racehorses.”

Next up is Lot 261 from Barton Stud, who hails from the family of top-class performers Mutual Trust and All At Sea. Completing the quartet is Leon Carrick’s colt out of the 86-rated Premier Handicap winner Dianthus (Lot 371).

Arizona himself sold for €260,000 as a yearling and wasted little time in making his mark, by bolting up by eight lengths in a Curragh maiden. He followed up in a strong renewal of the Group 2 Coventry Stakes and went on to place in the Group 1 National Stakes and Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes. Those performances earned Arizona a Timeform rating of 119, a rating only bettered that year by Pinatubo and Kameko.
