Armory Follows Up In Futurity Stakes

Last month’s impressive Tyros Stakes winner Armory (2c Galileo - After, by Danehill Dancer) dug deep to take the Group 2 Galileo Irish EBF Futurity Stakes at the Curragh and this, extended his winning run to three.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained colt won his maiden over course and distance of seven furlongs in June and was once again sent off favourite, with Ryan Moore making the trip over from York to take the ride. Chasing the leaders for much of the way, he was pushed along from two furlongs out and quickened to lead soon after. Staying on well inside the final furlong, he won by three parts of a length.

The winning trainer commented after the race, “He's come along lovely and he'd have learned a lot today. The plan was to come here and come back to the National Stakes. He's learning. He quickened well, and that's what you'd like about him.”

A Coolmore homebred, Armory is a full-brother to the highly-rated Bond Street (Galileo), they the only foals of racing age out of After (Danehill Dancer), who was multiple Stakes-placed for the same connections.

Armory continues Ballydoyle’s excellent record in the Futurity Stakes, having previously won with the likes of Anthony Van Dyck (Galileo), Churchill (Galileo), Gleneagles (Galileo) and War Command (War Front).
