Beautifully Bred Foals Represent St Mark’s Basilica At Tattersalls

The first crop by St Mark’s Basilica make their anticipated debut at Tattersalls this week, with eleven beautifully-bred foals set to represent the world champion three-year-old.

The top-class son of Siyouni covered an impressive first book of mares, as illustrated by the December Foal Sale catalogue. St Mark’s Basilica’s first representative on Friday is a half-brother to Group 3 runner-up Devious (Starspangledbanner), whose dam is a black-type sister to Attraction.

Few foals boast such a stellar pedigree as Lot 869, a filly out of Group 1 Epsom Oaks heroine Talent, whose first foal is dual Group winner and Group 1 performer Ambition. Taroka Stud offer another sister to a top-flight performer in Lot 982, whose sibling Dubai Honour won a pair of Group 1’s Down Under and another two Group 2 contests in France.

Baroda Stud consign a St Mark’s Basilica brother to multiple Group winner Who’s Steph (Zoffany) and Australian Group performer Long Arm (Rock Of Gibraltar), while the Castlebridge Consignment offer a brother to Stakes winner Lady Penelope. Lot 987 from Norris Bloodstock boasts a similarly strong pedigree, as a half-brother to Group winner Ville De Grace, out of a full-sister to Grade 1 scorer Prince Arch. Houghton Bloodstock’s daughter of St Mark’s Basilica is a half-sister to Group 3 victor Star Storm and counts champion race mare Sayyedati as her grand-dam.

Galbertstown Stables offers a St Mark’s Basilica colt out of Stakes performer Chicas Amigas, whose first two runners are now both winners. Ballylinch Stud consign another well-related colt in Lot 967, whose half-brother Painters Palette is now rated 95. The pair are out of dual Group winner Maimara.
