Churchill Colt Delivered Late For Maiden Victory
The improving Blenheim Boy (2c Churchill - Abhasana, by Hawk Wing) struck late to snatch victory in Saturday’s seven furlong novice stakes at York.
Chasing the leaders in the early stages, the bay was pushed along from three furlongs out and kept on strongly to lead in the final strides. Speaking after the race, winning rider Tony Hamilton said, “A lot of the lads like him in the yard and he's come good today. Blenheim Boy liked the ground and although he only just won, he was getting on top at the line.”
Trained by Richard Fahey for PD Smith Holdings Ltd, Blenheim Boy was bred by Kildaragh Stud. A 85,000gns purchase, he continues a successful period for first season sire Churchill, whose son Snaffles landed a Listed contest the previous week.
