Churchill Colt Draws Clear To Maiden Success
A step up to six furlongs saw True Statesman (2c Churchill - True Verdictby Danehill Dancer) build on previous promise to win Thursday’s maiden at Chelmsford.
Charlie and Mark Johnston’s charge most recently finished a close third at Doncaster, with the winner having since doubled up in style. Sent off favourite on Thursday, he raced prominently for much of the way under John Egan and began to quicken from three furlongs out. Ridden to lead from the two furlong pole, he drew clear to score by three and a quarter lengths.
Owned by Jane Newett and Dougie Livingston, True Statesman was bred by BV Sangster out of Group performer True Verdict (Danehill Dancer). The son of Churchill is a half-brother to the 90-rated Vitamin (Camelot).
