Churchill Colt Emerges Victorious At Kempton
Victory (2c Churchill - Mill Point, by Champs Elysees) enjoyed a change of fortune to justify favouritism at Kempton on Friday evening.
The Alan King-trained colt finished a close third over course and distance of a mile last month, when he became short of room at a vital stage. Reunited with Martin Harley on Friday, he raced in midfield for much of the way and began to make headway from two furlongs out. Switched right to challenge, he was ridden to lead inside the final furlong and kept on well to deny the fast-finishing New Shepard (No Nay Never) by a neck.
Owned by his trainer in partnership with D Barry and K Trowbridge, Victory was bred by Norelands Bloodstock. The son of Churchill becomes the first winner out of Mill Point, herself a full-sister to Stakes performer Moorside (Champs Elysees).
