Churchill Colt Impresses On Debut At The Curragh
Trustyourinstinct (3c Churchill - Gussy Goose, by Danehill Dancer) emerged as an exciting prospect when running out a clear winner of Saturday’s ten furlong maiden at the Curragh.
The Joseph O’Brien-trained newcomer was sent off favourite under Declan McDonogh and raced in touch with the leaders for much of the way. The chesnut showed signs of inexperience in the straight, before making headway approaching two furlongs out and was switched right to challenge soon after. Ridden to lead before the final furlong, he ran on strongly to score by three lengths and three quarters.
“Trustyourinstinct looks a nice horse,” the winning trainer later commented. “We thought he'd run well and he'll have learned a lot. He was green in the middle of the race there but I thought he went to the line well. It was a good performance on debut.”
Trustyourinstinct was bred by Mrs Noreen McManus and carries the colours of JP McManus.
