Perotan (Churchill) Wins Her Majestys Plate At Down Royal

Churchill Filly Remains Unbeaten In Listed Feature

Perotan (3f Churchill - Tanaghum, by Darshaan) confirmed the promise shown on her winning debut to take the Listed Her Majesty’s Plate at Down Royal on Friday evening.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained bay flew home on debut, despite showing signs of inexperience, and was sent off favourite to remain unbeaten in Friday’s feature. Partnered by Wayne Lordan, the daughter of Churchill made headway after the three furlong marker and was ridden to lead approaching the final furlong. Quickening clear, she score by two and three quarter lengths, as Moon Daisy (Australia) completed a 1-2 for Coolmore sires.

“She has got plenty of class,” stable representative Chris Armstrong said after the race. “Aidan and the team always held her in high regard. She has a very good pedigree and the sire is on fire. We'll step her up now and let her work through the grades.”

Perotan is owned by Masaaki Matsushima, Coolmore and Westerberg. Bred by Barronstown Stud, she is closely related to multiple Stakes winner Bangkok (Australia) and dual Stakes winner Tactic (Sadler’s Wells). She hails from the first crop of Churchill, who is enjoying a terrific season led by dual Group 1 winner Vadeni (Churchill).
