Churchill Juvenile Impresses In Group 3 Sprint

Prime Art (2f Churchill - Mona Lisa’s Smile, by War Front) showed her class when running out a commanding winner of Saturday’s Group 3 Firth Of Clyde Stakes at Ayr.

The winner of a Naas maiden just nine days prior, the Johnny Murtagh-trained filly was partnered by Ben Curtis on her fourth career start and raced in mid-division for much of the six furlong sprint. Improving before the final furlong, she was ridden to lead soon after and began to quicken clear from 110 yards out. Running on well, she led by a length and three quarters on the line, as the highly-rated Great Generation finished second.

“She has a lot of potential,” the winning rider later commented. “She ran two great races and then showed a very good attitude to win last time at Naas. She'll probably stay further and she showed a lovely turn of foot. Hopefully her future is bright.”

Prime Art sold for €185,000 at the Goffs Orby Sale and is now owned by Kevin Doyle, Mrs John Magnier and Mrs David Nagle. The progressive daughter of Churchill was bred by the Nagle’s Barronstown Stud.
