Churchill Tops First Crop Sire Table At Tattersalls Book 2
Exciting young stallion Churchill continued his strong start in the Tattersalls sales ring at the venue’s Book 2 Sale, where he fared best of the first crop sires with a total turnover of 1,468,000gns.
16 yearlings by the dual Guineas victor sold over the three day period, for an average of 91,750gns, the highest price of which was 350,000gns. The aforementioned winning bid was struck by Stroud Coleman for a Churchill filly from Newsells Park Stud (Lot 718), whose sister Beautiful Morning (Galileo) won at Group 3 and Listed level.
Lot 1111 from Croom House Stud followed close behind on the top price table, with the Churchill half-sister to two Stakes horses fetching 340,000gns from Gainsborough Thoroughbreds for MV Magnier. Simon Crisford did the bidding and later commented, “She's a lovely racy, active filly and MV Magnier loved her and suggested we should buy her. She showed herself off so well and she comes from a fabulous farm so it's very exciting.”
Manister House Stud was another consignor to reap the rewards of supporting Churchill in his first year at stud, selling their brother to Group 3 performer Elizabeth Darcy (Lot 1141) for 150,000gns to Sackville Donald.
Morna McDowall, meanwhile, offered the first foal out of Sprinkling as Lot 1248 and was rewarded with a 105,000gns payment from Global Equine Group.
Fittocks Stud were also well-paid for their Churchill colt (Lot 984), a first foal out of Stakes performer Materialistic, who sold for 100,000gns to Rabbah Bloodstock.
European Champion Two-Year-Old Colt Churchill also topped the first crop sire table at the Tattersalls Book 1 Sale, where 13 of his yearlings fetched a combined 1,607,000gns.
