Churchill’s Success In The Sales Ring Extends To Arqana
Churchill’s progeny may not yet have reached racing age, but the champion two-year-old and dual Guineas winner continues to pass all sales ring tests with flying colours.
Following high demand for his foals and covers at the Tattersalls December Sales, Churchill enjoyed a strong start at Arqana, where Psara was sold carrying her first cover to him for €500,000.
The winning four-year-old is out of dual Stakes winner Pacifique (Montjeu), herself a close relation of Irish Oaks heroine Chicquita, and therefore from a family who has amassed great fortune for consignors Ecurie des Monceaux.
With a fall of the hammer, Ghislain Bozo’s Meridian International was confirmed the successful buyer, with the agent later commenting, “She’s a lovely mare from a very good family. She is carrying to Churchill and the mating should suit her.”
Caja Primera, the only other mare offered in foal to Churchill on the day, was knocked down to Scea Marmion for €85,000.
Churchill’s first crop turn two on January 1st, having sold for up to 350,000gns as yearlings, while his second crop of foals sold for up to 230,000gns at Tattersalls last week.
