Hazel (No Nay Never) Wins Her Maiden At Dundalk

Classic Trial Plan For Latest Winner By No Nay Never

The Donnacha O’Brien-trained Hazel (2f No Nay Never - Asteya, by Tiger Hill) will seek black-type next season after gaining a deserved maiden victory at Dundalk on Friday evening.

Beaten narrow margins on her first two starts, the Mrs Regalado-Gonzalez owned bay faced some well-bred rivals on her return from a break, including a full-sister to Gleneagles and a Gleneagles sister to Halfway To Heaven (Galileo). Chasing the leaders under Gavin Ryan, she improved into second passing the two furlong marker and ran on to join the leader in the final 110 yards. Keeping on well under pressure, she got her head in front on the line to deny the favourite Joan Of Arc (Galileo).

Speaking after the race, O’Brien said, “She's very talented and we always thought a lot of her. She's a very decent filly and we'll try and get some black-type with her next year. The Guineas trial at Leopardstown could be a possible starting point.”

Bred by Whisperview Trading, the daughter of No Nay Never comes from the family of Pilsudski.
