Classy Churchill Colt Brings €100,000 at Goffs
Michael Buggie and Liam Wright enjoyed a terrific result with their Churchill colt at the Goffs November Foal Sale, when he was knocked down to Littleton Stud for €100,000.
It continued a fine run for breeder Michael Buggie, who said: “I'm absolutely over the moon. The price certainly surpassed my expectations.” Consigned by Liam Wright’s Littlewood Stables, the colt is a half-brother Germanic (Saxon Warrior) who rise to a rating of 97 this season.
Churchill’s only other offering on the day, a colt consigned by Pipe View Stud, brought €62,000 from Lynn Lodge Stud. Monday’s foals by the sire sold to the likes of Glenvale Stud, Yeomanstown Stud and Manister House Stud.
Churchill also enjoyed a successful day on the track on Tuesday, as Aga Khan homebred Ridari (2c Churchill – Ridasiyna, by Motivator) made his second start a winning one at Chantilly.
The Mickel Delzangles-trained bay had finished a promising second on debut, with the winner subsequently doubling up in good style. Ridari was sent off favourite to go one better in the Class 2 conditions race and raced towards the back of midfield for much of the mile contest. Travelling well past the two furlong pole, he quickened inside the final furlong and led close home, going on to win by a length under Mickael Barzalona.
