Classy Filly Kicks Off Impressive Double For Churchill
Blue Rose Cen (2f Churchill - Queen Blossom, by Jeremy) could hardly have been more impressive when drawing clear in Saturday’s Class 2 contest at Clairefontaine.
The Christopher Head-trained filly won her second start in smart fashion at Saint-Cloud and stepped up to a mile at the weekend. Ridden to make all by Aurelien Lemaitre, she ran on strongly from two furlongs out to score by an easy four lengths.
A step up in class may now be on the cards for Blue Rose Cen, who is owned by breeders Yeguada Centurion.
Chillhi (2c Churchill - Hi Katriona, by Second Empire) became Churchill’s second impressive winner of the day when taking the seven furlong maiden at Newcastle.
Tracking the leaders under Ben Robinson, the Brian Ellison-trained colt was travelling best of the field with three furlongs left to race. Shaken up to lead a furlong later, he kept on strongly inside the final furlong to win by four lengths with ease.
The impressive son of Churchill is owned by P Boyle and was bred by John Webb.
