Classy Mastercraftsman Filly Impresses At Kempton
The highly-rated Lilac Road (3f Mastercraftsman - Lavender Lane, by Shamardal) produced an impressive performance on her seasonal return in the Fillies’ Conditions Stakes at Kempton.
A maiden winner and fourth in the Group 2 May Hill Stakes as a two-year-old, the William Haggas-trained filly came into Monday’s contest with a rating of 102. Making all under James Doyle, she was pushed along from two furlongs out and faced a challenge approaching the final furlong. Soon clear, she was pushed out to win by three and a quarter lengths in comfortable fashion.
Speaking after the race, assistant trainer Maureen Haggas said, “She was great and stretched on well. I think she's pretty versatile really and she's a good, solid filly. She stays this trip really well and we'll probably stick at a mile and maybe later in the year she can step up in trip.”
Jon and Julia Aisbitt’s homebred is the first foal out of Group performer Lavendar Lane.
