Cliffs prevails in G2 for Galileo
Last year’s G1 Derby runner-up Clffs Of Moher (4c Galileo-Wave, by Dansili) looks set for a good 2018 season after winning the G2 Coolmore Camelot Irish EBF Mooresbridge Stakes at Naas on Monday.
Ryan Moore piloted the Galileo colt in the 10-furlong contest, showing a superb turn of foot to seize the lead in the final furlong and forge clear to win by a length and three-quarters.
Cliffs Of Moher has a range of G1 entries this year and trainer Aidan O’Brien commented: “He relaxed lovely and came home well. He has an option of either the G1 Coronation Cup or the G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup. He's a good horse and was just beaten in an Epsom Derby.”
Galileo has made his traditional formidable start to the year and on Sunday was represented by another high-class four-year-old winner in Waldgeist (4c Galileo-Waldlerche, by Monsun), who captured the G3 Prix d’Hedouville in Longchamp.
