Curragh Stakes Double For No Nay Never
Visualisation (5g No Nay Never - Roselita, by Sadler’s Wells) completed a Stakes double for No Nay Never at the Curragh when making all to win the Group 2 Coolmore Stud Sottsass Irish EBF Mooresbridge Stakes.
A Listed winner on his seasonal return, Joseph O’Brien’s charge went on to finish second to Point Lonsdale (Australia) over course and distance last time out and faced six Group-winning rivals on Monday. Partnered by Declan McDonogh, Visualisation was pushed along approaching the two furlong pole and was ridden a furlong later. Keeping on well when challenged by last year’s winner Layfayette, he could not be caught and led by a length and half on the line.
Speaking after the race, Joseph O’Brien said, “He has come back in really good shape this year. He found a bit again when the other horse came back at him.” On future plans, the trainer added, “We would have to think about the Tattersalls Gold Cup for him if it came up soft.”
Owned by Harold John Millar, the now four-time Stakes winner was bred by Whisperview Trading.
Earlier on the card, His Majesty (2c No Nay Never - Czabo, by Sixties Icon) announced himself as an exciting prospect when making a winning debut in the Listed First Flier Stakes.
Racing over five furlongs, Aidan O’Brien’s newcomer was pushed along approaching the two furlong marker and showed signs of inexperience when Seamie Heffernan increased his urgings. Running on well inside the final furlong, he led close home to win by three parts of a length
“His Majesty did it lovely,” Aidan O’Brien said after the race. “They went a good gallop, it was a good race. Seamus gave him a chance and he came home well. He has loads of speed and is a big mature horse. He will have no problem with six furlongs.”
Bred by Newstead Ltd, the 325,000gns yearling purchase is owned by Coolmore partners with Westerberg and Peter Brant.
