Daughter Of Galileo Gains Well-Deserved Stakes Success

Klassique (4f Galileo - Chachamaidee, by Footstepsinthesand) gained a well-deserved black-type success when running out a three length winner of Saturday’s Group 3 Pinnacle Stakes at Haydock.

Trained by William Haggas for Yvonne Jacques, the bay filly was last seen finishing second over the same distance of a mile and a half in a Listed contest, while she ended her three-year-old campaign with another second in a Group 3 race in France. Sent off second favourite, she was partnered by Danny Tudhope for the first time and chased the leader Magnolia Springs until the two furlong marker, where she produced her challenge. Leading a furlong and a half from home, she raced into the driving rain and was driven out to score by three lengths, as Irish raider True Self (Oscar) stayed on for second.

Maureen Haggas later commented, “Klassique did great. She was lovely and settled and seemed to handle the ground without a problem. She has a few options and we could step her back up to 1m6f.”

Klassique was bred by RAH Evans and was bought by Brian Grassick Bloodstock for 300,000gns at the Tattersalls Book 1 Yearling Sale. She is the first runner out of Group 1 Matron Stakes heroine Chachamaidee (Footstepsinthesand), herself a full-sister to dual Group 3 winner J Wonder (Footstepsinthesand) and a half-sister to Hong Kong Group 3 winner California Whip (Giant’s Causeway).
