Daughter Of The Late Zoffany Captures Group 1 Falmouth Stakes
Prosperous Voyage (3f Zoffany - Seatone, by Mizzen Mast) became the latest Group 1 winner by the late Zoffany when gaining a deserved top level success in Friday’s Falmouth Stakes.
The unbeaten Inspiral was a short-priced favourite for the feature, with Prosperous Voyage having twice finished second to the favourite as a juvenile, including at Group 1 level. The Ralph Beckett-trained bay appeared better than ever when narrowly denied on her seasonal return in the 1,000 Guineas and was ridden by Rob Hornby once again on Friday.
Leading from the break, she was briefly headed approaching the final furlong, but soon battled back to lead and ran on well to score by a length and three quarters, as her aforementioned rival was relegated to runners-up honours.
Ralph Beckett is already dreaming of further Group 1 glory, saying, “The Sun Chariot is the obvious race for her. We will keep bringing her back to Newmarket.”
Owned by Marc Chan and Andrew Rosen, Prosperous Voyage was bred by Lynch Bages and Camas Park Stud. Purchased by Badgers Bloodstock at the 2020 Goffs Orby sale, the daughter of Zoffany is the best performer out of the mare Seatone, whose No Nay Never colt sold for 450,000gns last year and having joined the Aidan O’Brien team, has since been named Tenerife.
