Daughters Of Galileo Make Presence Felt At Arqana

Truth (Galileo) wrote the latest chapter in the Prudenzia success story when fetching €580,000 on the first day of the Arqana December Sale.

Offered by Haras du Bouquetot as Lot 178, the full-sister to Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes heroine Magic Wand (Galileo) was knocked down to James Delahooke, on behalf of Minster Stud.

It was a case of second time lucky for Delahooke, he explained, “I was underbidder here when Magic Wand went through this ring and I followed her career with great excitement, and sadness we hadn't been able to get her.”

As well as being responsible for Irish Oaks winner Chicquita (Montjeu), Prudenzia has produced four foals by Galileo to have sold for at least €1million, most recently a yearling colt for €2million.

Meridian International secured another well-related daughter of Galileo when going to €250,000 for the unraced three-year-old Toddilea (Lot 186). The Wertheimer and Frere homebred is a half-sister to two Stakes horses out of dual Grade 1 winner Safari Queen.

Golden Lilas (Galileo) herself lived up to expectations on Saturday when selling to Carlos and Yann Lerner for €240,000. Gestut Ammerland consigned the own-sister to top-class race mare Golden Lilac (Galileo), out of Group 1 Prix du Moulin winner Grey Lilas (Danehill).
