€180,000 Yeats colt tops Tatts

A son of Yeats brought the highest price in seven years at Tattersalls Ireland’s September Yearling Sale on Thursday night when selling for 180,000 euros to agent Ananios Antoniadis.

Out of Laurentine (by Private Account), a half-sister to Oaks heroine Love Divine, the handsome colt looked to have been on many buyers' wish-lists. The likes of Ronan Griffin, Norman Williamson and Harold Kirk all made a play for the Castlebridge Consignment offering and it was Jim Ryan who provided Antoniadis with his final opposition.

Antoniadis, acting for the Lily Corporation, had been bidding throughout the sale for Eastern European interests and was delighted to get this prized lot.

"He’s a very nice type and a really lovely horse. We were looking for a middle-distance type and he should be a nice horse for that," said Antoniadis.
