Dun Na Sead (Starspangledbanner) Impresses On Debut At The Curragh

Exciting Filly Continues Fantastic Weekend For Starspangledbanner

Dun Na Sead (2f Starspangledbanner - Alice Thornton, by Hurricane Run) made an impressive start to her career when making all to win Sunday’s five furlong maiden at the Curragh.

Declan McDonogh took the ride aboard the Kieran Cotter-trained chesnut and asked her to quicken from two furlongs out. Going clear inside the final furlong, she scored by a length and three quarters comfortably.

Cotter was full of praise for the winner, saying, “Dun Na Sead is the fastest two-year-old we've ever had. She is very quick and maintained it to the line. She could be special.”

Owned by the Kildare Racing Club and bred by Ms Diane O’Neill, she continues a terrific season for Starspangledbanner’s two-year-olds, who landed the first two juvenile Group races of the year. The previous day at Newmarket, Flotus (Starspangledbanner) and Castle Star (Starspangledbanner) finished second in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes and Group 1 Middle Park Stakes respectively.
