Exciting Prospect Emerges For Sottsass At Ascot
The well-regarded Law Of Design (2g Sottsass – Areeda, by Refuse To Bend) shaped like a smart prospect when winning Saturday’s seven furlong novice stakes at Ascot in commanding fashion.
Brian Meehan’s charge finished third behind more experienced rivals at Newmarket last month, but faced a previous winner and a 450,000gns purchase on his second start. Racing prominently under James Doyle, the chesnut was shaken up two furlongs from home and improved to lead a furlong later. He ran on strongly to score by two and a half lengths.
“That was great,” said the winning trainer. I'm delighted with Law Of Design. He's always shown a lot at home and is a big horse so we'll take stock and decide next week what the next step is. He's a proper horse I'd say.”
The Manton Thoroughbreds-owned winner holds entries in the Group 2 Champagne Stakes and Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes. Bred by Knockainey Stud, the smart colt hails from the first crop of Arc hero Sottsass.
