Exciting Wootton Bassett Colt Draws Clear On Debut
King Of Steel (2c Wootton Bassett - Eldacar, by Verglas) went some way to justifying his Epsom Derby entry when making an impressive debut in Wednesday’s mile maiden at Nottingham.
David Loughnane’s charge raced prominently under Adam Kirby and was ridden to lead approaching the final furlong. Drawing clear soon after, he went on to score by four and three quarter lengths with minimum fuss.
There is plenty more to come from King Of Steel, according to Adam Kirby, who said, “He must be one of the biggest two-year-olds I've ever ridden. He travelled round really nicely and lengthened well down the straight. He's got the right attitude for the game and is exciting.”
Bred by BCF Services LLC in the US, the son of Wootton Bassett is owned by Amo Racing.
