Fastnet Rock ex Diademe colt selling for $650,000 at the Magic Millions Weanling Sale

Fastnet Rock Colt Tops at Magic Millions National

The first session of the 2018 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale was topped by an outstanding Fastnet Rock colt from Group I winning Savabeel mare Diademe.

Consigned by Coolmore, the colt was bought by Craig Rounsefell of Boomer Bloodstock for $650,000.

"He's a lovely colt," Rounsefell said. "He's obviously by Fastnet Rock - huge pedigree being out of a Group One winner - just an exciting colt to get.

"He's the right type. He's going to grow into a nice horse and hopefully it's a good decision.

"I bought him for a syndicate of owners, the decision is now in their hands - whether he will be re-offered (as a yearling) or taken to the racetrack, it will be a decision made in the coming months."

The star colt is the second foal of Diademe, a full sister to this season’s Group I New Zealand 2,000 Guineas winner Embellish. Her first foal, another colt by Fastnet Rock, made $1million at the NZB Premier Yearling Sale this year.

Diademe was bought from the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in 2015 by Coolmore / China Horse Club for $740,000 and will be re-offered next week at the same sale by Coolmore as Lot 1007 and is in foal to Golden Slipper winner Vancouver.
