Fastnet Rock Filly Proves A Class Apart
The Blue Brilliant (3f Fastnet Rock - Butterfly Blue, by Sadler’s Wells) earned a step up in class when running out a stylish winner of Friday’s ten furlong maiden at Fairyhouse.
The Jessica Harrington-trained filly was sent off favourite following placed efforts on both her previous starts, most recently behind the subsequently Stakes-placed Party House (Camelot). Shane Foley rode her to chase the leader, improving to lead approaching two furlongs out and went clear in the final furlong, winning by two and a quarter lengths with ease.
“We're delighted with her, she deserved that,” Kate Harrington later commented. “We'll step her up into listed or group company now.”
Owned by Mrs David Nagle and Mrs John Magnier, The Blue Brilliant is closely related to two Stakes performers by Danehill Dancer. The daughter of Fastnet Rock was bred by Barronstown Stud out of an own-sister to the dam of Peeping Fawn and Thewayyouare.
