Fastnet Rock Filly Shapes Like Future Star At Goodwood
Via Sistina (3f Fastnet Rock - Nigh, by Galileo) cast some classy rivals aside when racing clear to win the Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Goodwood on Saturday afternoon.
The Joe Tuite-trained filly overcame a slow start on debut to finish an eye-catching third and stepped up to ten furlongs at the weekend, but had an own-sister to Frankel (Galileo) to contend with. Held up behind the leaders by Jim Crowley, she made smooth headway approaching two furlongs out and was full of running as her rivals came under pressure. Quickening as she entered the final furlong, she strode clear to win by five and a half lengths.
A step up in class is now presumably on the cards for Via Sistina, who is owned by Mrs Hillen. The daughter of Fastnet Rock was bred by Laundry Cottage Stud Farm out of a Galileo half-sister to Kingsgate Native. Daughters of Galileo sent to Fastnet Rock have previously produced the likes of Intricately, Qualify, Rivet and Zhukova.
