Fastnet Rock Filly Wins On Return
The Andrew Balding-trained Hold Fast (3f Fastnet Rock – Rohain, by Singspiel) made a winning three-year-old return in Tuesday’s Maiden Stakes at Kempton.
Last seen in August, when finishing second over a mile, she appeared to appreciate the recent step up in trip to ten furlongs. David Probert rode the bay close to the pace and asked her to challenge approaching the two furlong pole. Running on well to lead close home, she won by half a length from Nashy (Camelot).
Speaking after the race, the winning jockey said, “Hold Fast has come on quite a bit through the winter and her homework has been good. She hit the line strong and she'll improve again going up in trip.”
Bred by Sean Connolly, Hold Fast is owned by Mildmay Racing and DH Caslon. The daughter of Fastnet Rock is closely related to Listed winner Aussie Reigns. Her dam has a two-year-old filly by Pride Of Dubai and a yearling colt by The Gurkha.
