First Foal for Group 2 Winning 2YO Gustav Klimt
Gustav Klimt’s first foal arrived on Friday when Minch Bloodstock’s Guenea produced a quality filly.
Both sire and dam of the filly are exceptionally well-bred. Gustav Klimt is by Galileo, out of a full-sister to Kodiac and closely related to Invincible Spirit, while Guenea (Sinndar) is a half-sister to Group 1 winners Guignol and Guiliani and is out of Italian Oaks-Gr.1 winner Guadalupe. Guenea’s first two foals are both winners.
As a 2yo Gustav Klimt won the Superlative Stakes-Gr.2 (7f., Newmarket), then at 3 he won the 2,000 Guineas Trial Stakes-L. (7f., Leopardstown), was runner-up in the St James's Palace Stakes-Gr.1 (8f., Royal Ascot) and was third in the Sprint Cup-Gr.1 (6f., Haydock) and Irish 2,000 Guineas-Gr.1 (8f., Curragh). He stands at Coolmore’s Castlehyde Stud at a fee of €6,000.
