Frankel proves an International star
Frankel (4c Galileo–Kind by Danehill), officially rated the world’s best racehorse, stretched his unbeaten run to 13 with a stunning victory in the G1 Juddmonte International Stakes at York.
The Juddmonte International was the Galileo colt’s first outing beyond a mile but he once again demonstrated hisdevastating turn of foot as he came home seven lengths clear of Farhh in the extended 10-furlong contest.
This was a record-breaking eighth consecutive G1 victory for Frankel, surpassing the record previously held by the outstanding miler Rock Of Gibraltar, and his tenth success at the highest level in total.
Trainer Sir Henry Cecil said: “It was great from Frankel wasn’t it? It is fantastic and it’s great for Yorkshire as they are very supportive of racing and they deserve to see him.
“It makes me feel 20 years better.”
Jockey Tom Queally added: “Frankel has so much class – it’s unbelievable. It was special today as everyone got behind him and the Yorkshire crowd really appreciated him.
“If anything, going that quicker pace helped because there was no funny business and we were racing from end to end and the best horse won comprehensively.
“He bunny-hoped out of the stalls but he was relaxed all the way. He was really in a rhythm and that’s important, particular with the step up in trip, because two and a half furlongs is two and a half furlongs. None of us were worried about that but you can’t be complacent.”
