G3 success for Galileo colt Ernest Hemingway

Improving stayer Ernest Hemingway (4c Galileo-Cassydora, by Darshaan) landed a second consecutive G3 on Thursday night when coming with a well-timed run to land the G3 Ballyroan Stakes at Leopardstown.

The Galileo colt, who won the G3 At The Races Cup on his previous run, got up to beat last year’s G1 Irish St Leger winner Royal Diamond by half a length and that contest could be Ernest Hemingway’s target.

"He relaxed really well but he idled like mad going to the line. He is a horse that is progressing and the Irish Leger fits into his programme well," said winning rider Joseph O’Brien, whose father Aidan trains the colt
