Galileo bandwagon gets underway with Dubai G2 win

What promises to be a year full of excitements in the northern hemisphere for Galileo got going in Dubai on Saturday when Mikhail Glinka (5h Galileo-Lady Karr, by Mark Of Esteem) scored in G2 company. The five-year-old, who was formerly trained by Aidan O’Brien at Ballydoyle, was saddled by Herman Brown to take the 2,410-metre G2 Dubai City Of Gold at Meydan by a length under Royston Ffrench. "We planned to try and get out in front and it worked well. He stays further than this so stamina was never an issue and connections will have a couple of options for him on the big night (Dubai World Cup evening)," said Ffrench. Mikhail Glinka, who was bred by Paulyn Ltd, was originally bought as a foal for 250,000gns by Tim Hyde and was G1-placed as a two-year-old.
