Lancaster House Wins The Listowel Stakes

Galileo Colt Extends Unbeaten Record In Listowel Stakes

Lancaster House (3c Galileo - Quiet Oasis, by Oasis Dream) extended his unbeaten record when justifying favoritism in Monday’s Listed feature at Listowel, the Edmund And Josie Whelan Memorial Listowel Stakes.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained bay won his debut by eight lengths and followed up with an authoritative success at the end of last month, remaining over the nine furlong trip on Monday. He overcame a wide draw to chase the leaders under Donnacha O’Brien and was travelling well in second over two furlongs from home. Ridden to lead entering the final furlong, he ran on under hands and heels to score by two lengths and three quarters, as Wargrave (Galileo) stayed on to complete a 1-2 for their sire.

Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “Lancaster House gave me a very good feel today. I think he's a smart horse. He showed a lot of speed today and he could be effective over a mile or ten furlongs.”

Bred by Barronstown Stud, Lancaster House is the first foal out of US Grade 3 winner Quiet Oasis, who has a Galileo own-sister to the above winner catalogued to sell at Tattersalls next month.
