Galileo Colt Lives Up To The Hype At Arqana
A Galileo colt out of star broodmare Prudenzia went some way to continuing his family legacy when selling for €2 million at Arqana’s Select Sale on Thursday.
The full-brother to Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes winner Magic Wand became an incredible seventh yearling out of the mare to pass the million mark, with his exciting promise pushing MV Magnier to successfully outbid David Redvers. Bred by Lady O’Reilly in partnership with Ecurie des Monceaux, the handsome bay also counts Irish Oaks heroine Chicquita (Montjeu) amongst his siblings.
On his pricey purchase, Magnier said, “He comes from an excellent family and is by Galileo, who is having another great year. We thought he was very nice, he's got a good hind leg and is a very good mover, all our guys really liked him. Magic Wand has been very good to us and hopefully this fella will end up as good.”
Magnier bought a full-sister to Thursday’s star in 2017 and later named Je Ne Regretterien, finished third in the Group 3 Prix de Royaumont last season. There is plenty of opportunity for further black-type in the family, with Magic Wand lining up in the Group 1 Prix de Vermeille at the weekend.
