Galileo Filly Captures Grade 2 Stakes In Style
Belmont Oaks heroine Magic Attitude (4f Galileo - Margot Did, by Exceed And Excel) came from last to first to land Saturday’s Grade 2 Sheepshead Bay Stakes at Belmont Park.
Trevor McCarthy partnered the Arnaud Delacour-trained mare to a three length success in the $200,000 contest over a mile and three furlongs. It marked a third Group/Graded win overall for the bay, who was purchased privately by Lael Stables after her win in a Longchamp Group 3 and went on to run second in the Group 1 Prix Saint Alary before switching to the US.
Speaking after Saturday’s win, the winning trainer said, “She needs to be switched off behind, and she has an explosive turn-of-foot, so it's nice to train a filly of that calibre.”
Bred by Katsumi Yoshida out of Nunthorpe Stakes winner Margot Did, Magic Attitude is an own-sister to Group 2 winner and Group/Grade 1 placed Mission Impassible (Galileo).
