Galileo Filly Completes Search For Stakes Success
Search For A Song (3f Galileo - Polished Gem, by Danehill) followed up on a fine fourth in the Irish Oaks when taking the Listed Galtres Stakes at the York Ebor Festival on Thursday.
Dermot Weld’s raider was sent off favourite under Oisin Murphy, who rode the Moyglar Stud homebred close to the pace for much of the mile and a half contest. Making headway from three furlongs out, she led a furlong later and stayed on strongly to beat Vivionn by a length and three quarters.
The winning trainer commented after the race, “She did that very nicely. Oisin did a nice job getting her in behind the speed and she’s a nice staying filly. She’ll definitely be in Group company next, but I really see her coming into her own as a four-year-old.”
Search For A Song is one of six black-type performers out of the Danehill mare Polished Gem, best known as the dam of Free Eagle (High Chaparral), as well as multiple Group winner Custom Cut and Stakes scorer Falcon Eight (Galileo). Amma Grace (Galileo), a two-year-old full-sister to Search For A Song, is yet unraced, but holds an entry in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes.
