Galileo Filly Upholds Family Honour With Stakes Success
Wednesday saw the well-bred Sapa Inca (3f Galileo - Inca Princess, by Holy Roman Emperor) gain her first black-type success in the Listed Beckford Stakes at Bath.
Listed-placed over the same distance of a mile and six furlongs last time out, she was reunited with Hayley Turner, who also guided her to a valuable win earlier in the season. Racing towards the back of the field, she began to make good headway from over two furlongs out and led a furlong later. She ran on to win by a length and three quarters, as Hulcote denied Dance Legend (Camelot) second on the line.
Trained by Mark Johnston for China Horse Club, Sapa Inca was bred by Desert Star Phoenix and was bought as a yearling for 200,000gns. She is a full-sister to Group 1 victor Johannes Vermeer (Galileo), Debutante Stakes runner-up Petite Mustique (Galileo) and Group 2 winner Elizabeth Browning (Galileo).
