Galileo juvenile John F Kennedy takes G3

Superbly-bred John F Kennedy (2c Galileo-Rumplestiltskin, by Danehill) is antepost favourite for the 2015 G1 Derby after winning the G3 John Deere Juvenile Turf Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday.

The Galileo colt had little difficulty in coming home three and a quarter lengths clear of the field under trainer Aidan O’Brien’s son Joseph.

“You'd have to be delighted with that. He learned a lot from the first day and also from the second day to today and he could go anywhere now,” the winning trainer told irishracing.com. “Around the inside here it is tight and he had to learn a lot and learn quick. It was great experience. We would be thinking of him maybe as a G1 Dewhurst Stakes horse but we'll have a think and see how he is.

“He has plenty of pace and we're delighted with the way he behaved today. He'll still grow up more and is very exciting.”

John F Kennedy, a full-brother to G1 Yorkshire Oaks winner Tapestry out of dual G1-winning two-year-old Rumplestiltskin, is as short as 6/1 for the 2015 Derby.
