Gosden Strikes For Sole Craven Offering By Highland Reel
Highland Reel’s sole offering at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale will go into training with John and Thady Gosden, after the former went to 95,000gns for the colt out of Ensaya (Lot 3).
Consigned by Mr Malcolm Bastard, the bay is out of Stakes performer Ensaya and hails from the Aga Khan family of Ebadiyla, Edabiya, Enzeli and Estimate.
Highland Reel won two of his three starts as a juvenile, the first a maiden by 12 lengths, before landing the Group 2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood. The son of Galileo went on to win seven Group 1 races and retired after winning his second Hong Kong Vase. The Aidan O’Brien-trained globetrotter earned over €9.5million in prize money- more than any other European-trained colt in history.
