Topgear Wins The Group 3 Prix Du Pin

Group 3 Winner Continues Fantastic Run For Wootton Bassett

Topgear (5h Wootton Bassett – Miss Lech, by Giant’s Causeway) became Wootton Bassett’s third black-type winner of the weekend when landing Saturday’s Group 3 Prix du Pin at Longchamp.

The Christopher Head-trained entire had placed on all of his previous starts this year, each of them at Stakes level, and faced eight rivals as he dropped down to seven furlongs. Chasing the leader under Stephane Pasquier, he was ridden to lead two furlongs from home and quickened clear approaching the final furlong. He was ridden out to deny British raider Ten Bob Tony by half a length on the line.

Sunday marked a second Group 3 success for the Hisaaki Saito-owned five-year-old, who was bred by Snig Elevage.
