Edwardian (No Nay Never) wins at Naas

Group Race Next For Smart No Nay Never Colt

Edwardian (2c No Nay Never – Data Dependent, by More Than Ready) built on a promising debut to run out a taking winner of Wednesday’s five furlong maiden at Naas.

Aidan O’Brien’s charge overcame a slow start to take second on debut in April, with the winner having since scored at Listed level. Sent off favourite to go one better on his second start, the imposing bay raced towards the back of the field under Ryan Moore and was asked to quicken after passing the two furlong pole. Running on strongly inside the final furlong, he led close home and kept on to win by a length and a quarter, going away.

Speaking after the race, the in-form O’Brien said, “He did well because he broke very slowly, he was very babyish. Ryan liked him, he finished out strong. He's a big No Nay Never and he's a massive influence for speed. He'll go into a Group race now.”

Edwardian was bred by Glenn Hill Farm, whose Craig Bernick owns the colt with Coolmore partners. The son of No Nay Never is closely related to recent Grade 1 Belmont Oaks heroine Aspen Grove (Justify).
