The Gurkha another Classic star for Galileo
The unstoppable Galileo enjoyed another Classic success in Deauville on Sunday when Aidan O’Brien sent over The Gurkha (3c Galileo-Chintz, by Danehill Dancer) to win the G1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains.
The lightly-raced three-year-old, previously an easy Navan maiden winner, took the step up in class in his stride as he went on to win France’s 2,000 Guineas by five and a half lengths.
O’Brien said: ”We're delighted with him, we couldn't be happier with him. We’ve always thought he was a nice horse and when he won at Navan we thought he was really nice.
"He has three options now - the G1 St James's Palace Stakes, the G1 French Derby and the G1 Epsom Derby. We'll let the dust settle for a week or 10 days and then we'll see."
The Gurkha is owned by Michael Tabor, Mrs John Magnier and Michael Tabor.
